The Shield

Maya Kempf-Harris
Maya Kempf-Harris is a senior at Mercy High School Baltimore and Editor of The Shield this year. She was in the Mentor Program during her junior year, during which time she went to the WBAL newsroom and was mentored by Jason Newton. She is currently involved in an independent study centering around investigative journalism and its evolution over time (through muckraking, Watergate, and "Russiagate") and a capstone focusing on what it is like for journalists to cover Trump and his rallies. Maya loves writing and reading of any kind, as well as video production. Maya looks forward to continuing her work in journalism on The Shield as Editor this year!
