As Christmas Day approaches, people from all over the world are trying to keep a joyful outlook on the holiday season by finding safe and fun activities to do to keep a sense of normalcy and excitement. Christmas is about tradition and giving back, and throughout this year, we haven’t been able to participate as often in either. Even though Christmas will be different this year, that does not mean that you can’t celebrate the season and find COVID-friendly activities to partake in!

Hosting a Zoom Christmas Party

Hosting or attending a Christmas zoom party can bring you into the Christmas spirit. Getting together with friends and loved ones and enjoying their company safely can bring joy into your holiday season without causing any harm.

Going to a Christmas Tree Farm

Although it may be a day long activity going to a Christmas tree farm, cutting down your very own tree can be a fun way to bond with your family while getting into the holiday spirit. Being outside and social distancing from others ensures your safety while you are searching for the perfect tree.

Driving through different neighborhoods and admiring the lights and decorations is a safe way to enjoy the holiday with your family from the safety and comfort of your car. You can play Christmas music to get you into the holiday spirit and have competitions of which house is the best. You can even take a day trip to somewhere to appreciate the hard work that people have put into their homes to celebrate the holiday.

Christmas Eve mass is a tradition that Christians all around the world partake in. Celebrating Jesus’s birth is an essential part of Christmas, and if you are unable to go into your church, or you just want to keep it safe, there are online live stream services, so you do not have to miss out on the holiday mass.

Baking cookies is an essential holiday activity that anyone can partake in. Decorating/making cookies, decorating gingerbread houses, or even making a festive meal brings the Christmas spirit to you. Since this year it may be hard to pay a visit to Santa at your nearest mall, there are some websites where you can text, or send emails back and forth with Santa, or even schedule your very own zoom call with Santa for the kids to enjoy. Put Together a Christmas Puzzle

While in full lock down, putting together puzzles became quite popular, as well as other card and board games. It’s a fun activity to do with your family while we are quarantined at home. Christmas Movie Night

Dedicate a night to watching your favorite Christmas movies or try watching a new movie. Netflix has created a feature called Netflix watch party, which enables you to watch a movie or TV show with friends or family who are not with you. It also has a feature which allows you to chat with the others who are watching.

Go Sledding

Looking at the forecast, there is a possibility for snow in the upcoming weeks. If we are blessed with a white Christmas, celebrate the season by bundling up and going outside to sled, make a snowman, have a snowball fight, ski or snowboard.

Gather together with some friends and family outside, while taking the proper percussions, and partake in sharing some holiday cheer by going Christmas caroling. You can spread joy all around your neighborhood by singing your favorite carols while spending quality time with your friends and family.

Although this year has been crazy, it is extremely important to partake in traditions and activities that add normalcy to our lives, to spend as much time as we can with loved ones, and to be thankful for all we have.
